Serving as your Mayor has been one of the most rewarding experiences on my life, and I am proud of the many successes we have had together," Mayor Mahr said in a statement to TAPintoSPF.
"I will continue to work hard to ensure Fanwood remains a model of a small suburban town with charm, has a variety of housing options, a downtown that offers something for everyone and great public spaces," Mayor Mahr added. "I will do my best to remain accessible and transparent with the amazing residents of Fanwood."
Mayor Colleen Mahr has been endorsed by Elect Women NJ, an organization that funds candidates by prioritizing diversity of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and geography in their review process. Colleen is among 33 diverse, Democratic, and pro-choice women to run for local office in NJ races. Congrats, Colleen!
The New Jersey League of Conservation Voters has endorsed Colleen Mahr in her campaign for Mayor of Fanwood. The LCV is a nonpartisan organization whose mission is to elect environmental champions.
“As a mayor who works hard every day for our residents to enjoy clean air, clear water and open space, having the endorsement of the New Jersey LCV is an affirmation of the hard but necessary work and I humbly thank them for this important endorsement,” remarked Mayor Mahr.
Our Committee was a proud sponsor of this year’s Fanwood 5K Pizza Run/Family Fun Run and Health Fair held on the front lawn of Borough Hall. Councilwoman Trisha Walsh and District 6 Democratic Committeeman Neal Fitzsimmons were among the runners.
The October 12th fundraiser for the Fanwood Democratic Committee brought local and regional Democrats to the home of Councilman Anthony Carter who, with Councilman Jeff Banks and Mayor Colleen Mahr, is running for re-election. Mayor Mahr hosted the 2023 nominating meeting of the Fanwood Democratic Committee on March 5th. The assembled members nominated all 14 candidates for Committee including six new members--Councilwoman Gina Berry, Neal Fitzsimmons, Jill Jackson-Jones, Tom Kranz, Paul Marder and Tanisha McGriff.
Mayor Mahr administered the oath of office to Gina, whose husband Jamal held the bible.
Kathy was sworn in to her 8th term by Borough Attorney Russ Huegel. Her niece Cynthia held the bible.
Kathy and Gina were elected in November in uncontested races. They are part of the majority of women now serving on the Fanwood Council. They were sworn during the annual reorganization meeting held Monday, January 2, 2023.
